More and more men and women who are unhappy with their eyebrows are having eyebrow transplants. The procedure involves taking hair follicles from the back of the scalp and replanting them in a carefully designed pattern to create eyebrows that suit the patient’s face.

The new eyebrows are designed by the patient and Dr. Behnam based on the patient’s face and wants. At the free consultation, the process is explained and patients are shown pictures of previous patients to help clarify what can be accomplished.

Though eyebrow patients are some of the happiest because the new eyebrows make such a difference in one’s appearance, patients must have a realistic expectation. Also, though it is a small percentage of society, some simply do not have donor hair healthy enough for transplant. This must be evaluated before surgery is scheduled. In the consultation all aspects of the procedure are discussed.

On the day of the procedure, the day begins with a discussion of the plan. It’s basically another consultation so that Dr. Behnam so the patient is on the same page as to what is to be accomplished. The procedure is performed under local anesthetic and is done very slowly so that the patient is not only comfortable but involved in the creation of their new eyebrows.

The procedure usually begins at 7:00 a.m. and is complete usually between 4 and 5p.m. Most patients are able to drive themselves home but some opt to arrange a ride or stay at the hotel next door to our clinic.

Down time and recovery are concerns that may vary depending on the patient’s type of work. A patient that has a job that requires physical exertion may require more downtime than a patient who has sedentary job. The average eyebrow patient usually gets back to normal activities with some restrictions in 5 to 7 days. Some patients will have longer down time, some will have shorter.

Some redness, bruising and swelling is to be expected. Patients are advised to sleep with their head elevated for the first couple of nights following the procedure. This will reduce swelling. Patients who sleep elevated this with a neck pillow have an easier time and can often reduce down time.

We have worked very hard to make the process as user friendly as possible. We are dedicated to giving each patient a great experience as well as great results. We know how exciting and rewarding it can be to take action to change something in one’s features.
